A 10 Minute Card? & an Award

Is it possible to make a card in 10 minutes? I have never timed myself when making cards, but this morning I needed a birthday card & I only had a few minutes to spare, so I picked some fun ribbon (from CRAFT QUEEN) a card blank, cut some "Alterations" "on the edge" trim out of some left-over green cs, some white cs (for the quick tag) some chalk (for the edges of the tag) some letter stickers (from HERE), button & left-over ric rac also from CRAFT QUEEN) & my trusty white souffle pen...& 10 minutes later I had my card all done & ready to be mailed!

I then got out a few bits & pieces from my CRAFT QUEEN bag of goodies & made this card...I used a 6"x6" piece of pp, & the die cut was stamped with Darkroom Door French Script in Versamark ink & covered with clear embossing powder, I then went over the edges with Distress ink (Vintage photo)& added THIS button, & THIS lace, as well as the sentiment (from THIS Darkroom Door set)
If you need a great finishing touch for a project, have a look at these beautiful wooden buttons. They are just a few in the range that Nicole has available in her store, & I bet you didn't know she has more than 800 ribbons & 120 ric racs!!!! How do I know that? I just read her blog post HERE
She has also been kind enough to pass on a blog award (thanks, Nicole) & now I need to nominate 10 favourite blogs, & 10 things about me!!!!
Well, my very favourite blogs are already listed on the side bar, so go & do some blog hopping : )
Now, for 10 things about me...that's a bit harder LOL
1. I love to create, anything!
2. I love chocolate, but only if it is Cadbury's Dairy Milk or Dark chocolate.
3. Both DH & DD know I can be bribed with the right chocolate LOL!
4. I love to create, but I very rarely create to a plan LOL
5. I have a terrible fear of spiders!!!!!
6. I love to read books, especially autobiographies.
7. I love horror films, the scarier the better, but I have not been able to bring myself to watch Eight-Legged Freaks (yet)LOL
8. Right now I'm listening to Bustamante's 2005 album "Caricias al Alma" which always reminds me of our trip to Barcelona in 2005 as his single seemed to be playing EVERYWHERE we went : )
9. I wish there were more hours in the day!
10. I love word games (Scrabble, Boggle, & Balderdash are favorites!)
Thanks for visiting my palace, & if you feel like sharing the award, consider it yours, but don't forget to share : )

Resist, If You Can...

LOL, Sorry, I just couldn't help myself... This is my entry for the current theme of "resist" over at INKURABLE STAMPERS. If you check out THIS post, you can view some very informative videos on different resist techniques, all fun & fairly easy to do : ) I'm a bit pressed for time at the moment, so I thought I'd work on an ATC for my entry. I started with a white piece of cs, spritzed it with Sunflower GM, stamped the skeleton leaf stamp (My Stamps) with Versamark ink, & covered the image with CEP. I then applied a combination of brilliant yellow & red Marvy inks, & some Distress ink (Vintage Photo) wiping away the excess ink from the embossed areas using a damp cloth. I cut a strip of the GM cs, & mounted the stamped, clear embossed & edged sentiment (Darkroom Door) onto it using some foam tape. So there is my resist entry, now it's your turn... BTW, have you had a chance to see the brand new DARKROOM DOOR Collections? They are HERE, HERE and HERE, & they are beautiful! Enjoy your day, & thanks for visiting my humble palace, until next time, go forth & create :)

Twinchies Canvas

Warning...Lots of photos ahead! Last week hubby had his 45th birthday, & this is the present DD & I decided to make for him. It was a project that was meant to be finished during the school holidays, but for various reasons (sleep-overs, family get-togethers, hubby being at home LOL) I was still working on this up until a few hours before DHs birthday, the main thing is that he loved it, & DD enjoyed the process! She did a few of the squares herself (the purple b'ground & gold leaf, the three tiles with the swirly butterfly, the tulip, the maple leaf embedded into the hot glue, the lady with the white gel pen "hair", the brown button on the wax & paint b'ground, the purple heart with the rhinestones, & the little girl with the wings & crown (all her own ideas) 9 out of 36, not too bad, right?). We used many different papers, stamps, chipboard pieces, inks, die cuts, string, rhinestones, glue (& glue gun), shrink plastic, printed words etc.
Initially, we planned on doing a larger canvas (this one is 12"x 12") but we just ran out of time...maybe that's something for hubby's next birthday : ) Other than for the fact that I was stressing out over cutting it soooo close, I really enjoyed playing with the 2"x 2" size. I hope you enjoy the photos. Thanks for visiting, & see you again soon :)
